Just up loaded some video to U TUBE of the engine in steam. Look up Forney steam loco. Then look for the REDROCK AND NORTHERN RAILROAD. If you check out my other videos you can find the second vid.

Thanks for the update. The boiler looks the same as the one that RMI sold us for our Sweet Creek that we use at the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre.

As it been some time since I posted, i thought it was time for a up date.
So here goes we have had the engine under steam a few times, and found out the injectors need 100 psi to work. It sure is a fine engine to run, has a nice exaust sound to it. I will post video on U TUBE soon of it running. We can only run backward and forward at this time due to the curve being too tight at the south end. engine needs 50ft curve and we have a 40ft curve.

The new engine is now out of the shop, derailed at least 6 times, damged some old track. It is fine on the main line and goes through the switches ok(40 foot rad), just the steam test to do now.

What radius track will you have? Forney's are a bit notorious ofr wantign very large radius's.

The engine is looking great. Those engine hoists are very handy - I keep mine tucked away in the shop, and its always ready for duty. Originally purchased to lift my lathe and milling machine onto their stands and its has had a lot of use since.

The boiler is now on the frames, it took a engine hoist to lift it. You can see the hoist in the photo's and the chain around the boiler.
The cab is finished and painted see photo, now we are working on all the pipeing, hope to steam in the next 4 weeks.

Do you guys use scale rail for your track? If so, what do you use for tie plates and ties?
We have used both wood and reclycled plastic ties depending on the cost at the time we use them.
We use scale rail purchased from Cromar White in England.
One of our members who owns a stamping plant produces scale tie plates for us which have served us well for the past ten years.

Looks very formidable and excites a two foot gauge fan like me.
Keep us appraised of progress, Peter
Where will you folks be running this engine. Is there a club track or will a private track be used?

That will be a great project to follow. They do make for hefty passenger movers.
