My guess is a rake will keep it open in the fall or our big leaf blower and a show shovel in the winter 8).  We do more running in the snow than the fall.

Hi Tom
Very inventive - what will you guys be using to keep  debris and dirt from clogging the table. Looks like it is below grade. If its anything like the woods behind our house everything ends up covered in no time.

We need a transfer table to allow us to get to the other 3 tracks in the car shed.  A long time ago Jack bought some 33ft bus frames with the thought of using them for bridge frames.  That never  happened so he used them for track in the car barn as they were 7.5 inches across.  We used part of one for the transfer table.  Welded on some angle iron for the pulleys used as wheels and added lock plates and a handle.

Now I see them - missed them first time. What an incredible scenery for a railroad.

Hi Tom
Is Jack using a track gauge or just setting it by measuring. I am always amazed how much bigger 7.5/7.25" track looks.cheers Ferd

Ferd,  We have three track gauges, 2 2 pt & 1 3 pt for curves.  One is in his hand and the other two are out on the track in the first picture.  The second one is under the pipe clamp holding the gauge and the third one is the 3 pt and it is out holding the rails apart.

A shot of Jack re-doing the spur at High Point.  The original was to tight and #10 would derail on it.  In spite of the fact that we have a tool car for laying track, we seem to always need something else, so the quad is usually close by for fast trips to the barn for supplies.

I visited the SRCL during the Narrow Gauge Convention in Detroit a few years ago and want to visit again when they are "in steam".  it will be the first time I would possibly see Jim Small's engine in operation.  I watched it being built years ago as a memebr of the Toronto Society of Model Engineers.

The Maine Southern has finally made it into Phelps.  We can now send out our wood to the rest of the country.
