Hello all.

The weather has turned to the better side so we pulled the sand boxes off #25 and sanded and prepped for paint.  I got primer on both and got the final coat on the outside of the front box. Hope to finish off next weekend. some shots.

Tom: Do you guys have a snow plow???  The "cut through the snow" suggests that you might Russ

Russ,  Yes we do.  One of the reasons why we are building the sand boxes for #25 is that the plow can't get all the snow of the track and the wheels turn it to ice and the engines start to slip and slow down.  If is is to much, we stall out and have to back up and try again.  Ram and Jam is what we call it.  We know the sanders on #7 & #10 help so we finally got around to make some for #25 as she is the work horse for the RR.

Nice Engine - aren't Shays great.  If it weren't for the head sticking out of the Shay it would be really hard to tell it from a 1:1 scale scene.

Hi,

A shot of #25 from the rear showing the new sand box and CLL #4 bring back some wood.

Good idea, Ferd ... I will add the addition of a sander to the list of upgrade to the Romulus ... certainly could use it in damp weather .. those little drivers break loose pretty easily

We spent part of Saturday cutting a hole in the hood of #25 and when we dropped the box in, It hit the bell motor and wouldn't lay flush.   OOPS!   We cut out some metal and put a dimple in it to make it fit in.
Some pics.

Hi Tom
We will have to convince Russ to build one for his Romulus, maybe then it will pull more people.   ::)   ::)   ;D

Nice to see working sanders in miniature. I am sure it is mandatory with snow on the track.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.  I was over again this weekend.  Was there on Friday and it was snowing.  Jack ran the plow up the hill with 25 and talked Mel into running it.  He said the sanders worked well as he could feel it slip and then grab as it found the sand.  So we started on a front box.
