I know the feeling Jim - good luck!
They do exist, I got this for £26 - needed a battery, controller and cab roof and it was advertised as 4" gauge  ???

Hi Jim,
They appear on eBay regularly but Maxitrak/Maidstone Engineering list a "starter kit" of 0-4-0 chassis, wheels, motor, controller and wiring for £400 which I always thought looked decent value.

Cheers, Andy

??? As a starter in 5", does anyone know of a part built or restorable battery electric for sale?
PS Have found a Maxitrak Coronation. All I need now are drawings to make a GWR "Toad" as a riding trolley. Pure nostalgia; as a child we all cadged rides up the line from the village in a real one.
