You all might be impressed by the massive bearing upon which our turntable rides. This became surplus to the needs of a maritime division of our government and its original intended use was to support a very tall rotatable mast on a ship. We don't anticipate having trouble turning very large locomotives weighing up to a couple of tons. The club member who made the truntable happen had a strong interest in building for weight as he is building a 7 1/4" model of a CPR Selkirk which was a massive 370 ton 2-10-4 used in the Rocky Mountains on the challenging mountain grades. In 7 1/4", this locomotive will be 15 feet long with tender.
