The Waushakum Live Steamers hodl an annual meet on the weekend before Labour Day each year. A couple of our members visited them this year (2007) and took some interesting pictures of their facilities. In this and several other posts, they are posted here to provide all of us with insights into options for our miniature railways. (1) This picture shows the manula switches used at Washakum. The throw handle works against the two springs which hold the switch points in their thrown positions. They use aluminum rail with steel points.
(2) The next picture shows the throat tracks to their main yard. The posts on the left hold switches on top of them which the engineer approaching the switch can tap as they go by and switch the switch before they reach it.
