GHLS - Rolling Stock
« Reply #1 on: October 05, 2007, 08:28:16 PM »
This is the one of a series of postings highlighting features of the operations facilities at the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (see www.ghls.ca).

Here we see the following rolling stock for the 7 1/4" gauge line:

(1) An 8 wheel weed sprayer car.  A gasoline powered compressor is carried on a 4 wheel flatcar to provide continuous pressure for the sprayer.

(2) A "caboose" - All of our passenger trains must have a conductor at the back when we carry the public.  Sitting the back of our riding cars was not comfortable when riding many laps.  Also if the conductor got up to stretch his legs, someone would often try to take their seat as the train filled up. So we built two of these 4 wheel "cabooses" with a comfortable seat and a spot for the conductor's liquid refreshment.

(3) One version of a 7 1/4" passenger carrying car built by the Toronto Railway Historical Association (see www, trha.ca) for their portable track operation and for future use on their as yet unbuilt permanent track.  Their two cars are on loan to the GHLS in the interim.

(4) One of the the GHLS-built passenger cars with a centre well design.
