I don't have any more information.  Either Ferd or I will take lots of detail pictures by the end of the month and post them here.  The fellow who built it owns a metel stamping company and is a top notch machinist.  It is a very robust piece of equipment.

Hi Russ:

Is there any chance of seeing a photo or sketch of the pendulum construction?  I'm in the process of a track car, and it looks like a good design.  My first idea is using the magnetic base pendulum-style angle indicators that you get from Harbor Freight for about $5.

Notice that the car has two pendulums for testing lean in either of two directions.  This car was built as a result of some unfortunate derailments which led to us being very concerned about ensuring optimum track alignment.

Track maintenance can be time consuming, here is a car designed to help provide a means of visually seeing how level the track is an how steep the grade is, along with carrying all the tools needed for the job.
